The CARE Platform categorizes apps into seven essential areas: Educational, Entertainment, E-Book, Music or Audio, Art & Creativity, Video Streaming/Non-Streaming, and Gaming Online/Offline. Each category is meticulously assessed across multiple dimensions, including Engagement & Functionality, Design & Usability, Safety & Privacy, Language & Content, and In-App Purchases & Advertising.
This innovative framework is the brainchild of Dr. Manpreet Kaur, a distinguished child psychologist renowned for her contributions to neurodiversity. Recognized as LinkedIn's top voice for neurodiversity, Dr. Kaur is a passionate advocate for inclusive education and digital safety. She serves as a brand ambassador for The Chromodiversity Foundation in India and holds a prestigious chair within the American Psychological Association (APA). Her extensive expertise and commitment to child development have positioned her as a leading authority in the field.
The origins of the CARE Platform trace back to Dr. Kaur's academic journey at Lady Irwin College, under the University of Delhi. It was during her college years that she first conceived the idea of a structured framework to evaluate children's digital applications. Her research highlighted the need for a reliable tool that parents, educators, and developers could use to ensure the quality and safety of children's digital experiences. Despite the initial conception of the framework during her college research, it took Dr. Kaur several years to refine and bring it to fruition. The process involved rigorous testing, collaboration with experts in child psychology and digital education, and continuous updates to keep pace with evolving technological advancements.
